Where all other selection requirements are met and in the light of Scripture, we do consider the hiring of divorced persons. There are, however, several considerations regarding the circumstances of the divorce in question, so we encourage you to discuss your situation with us directly.
For an overseas missionaries (not direct hire), the bulk of approved education costs are paid by TWR from funds that missionaries raise as part of their support requirement.
For missionaries sent from the US, each missionary is required to write one prayer letter every quarter. The letter is proofed and approved by TWR, then printed and mailed for you by our team. While this is the minimum communication requirement, the most successful missionaries are in regular touch with their support team.
Missionaries from the EU, EFTA, UK, or the Middle East do not need letters proofed or approved.
For missionaries from the US, for example, overseas missionaries receive 22 vacation days each year in addition to any local holidays while US-based roles receive sick, personal, and vacation time based on office policy.
For missionaries from the EU, EFTA, UK, or CAMENA, this depends on your sending agency’s policies.
The standard term of service is a three-year term followed by a furlough of four months. Other term/furlough options are available for families with children in regional/local schools or for missionaries for whom Totalization Agreement regulations for the country of service apply. These will be considered on a needs-basis.
The majority of TWR’s openings are for missionary roles fulfilled on the basis of building a ministry partnership team (doing the ministry of MPD). In other words, after you (with our help, of course) have found a team of people and churches who commit to partnering with you on an ongoing basis, then you can start your employment with TWR. Your salary and benefits are based on an established goal coming from these partner gifts. We provide you with resources, training, coaching, online donation links, prayer card design, etc. to help you with this.
For missionary roles, we believe that the building of a partnership team in ministry is one of the biggest assets the missionary has in your service for the Lord. The financial partnership, prayer support, and encouragement of other believers leads to unexpected blessings for all involved!
For missionaries from the US, most missionaries receive approximately 50-60% of their total support as income depending on your deduction elections.
For those serving overseas, the remaining balance goes toward housing, insurance, taxes, furlough and emergency travel, and children’s education. If you serve in the US, the balance goes toward paying your benefits and taxes.
For missionaries from the EU, EFTA, UK, or the Middle East, these factors depend on the country where you serve and will be done in consultation with our Sending Agency of your country of origin.
For missionaries from the EU, EFTA, UK, or CAMENA, this is determined by your sending agency.
You will need to reach 100% of your support goal before you can depart for the mission field.
You can apply at any time with any amount of debt. However, you cannot start your missionary role with TWR until you have less than $10,000 of unsecured debt (like credit card or medical debt) and/or up to $30,000 in educational debt. We do not count secured debt (like a house or car) that you can sell to clear the debt.
If you have student debt, this organization can partner with you to find a solution (not sponsored by TWR).
For missionaries from the EU, EFTA, UK, or CAMENA, the depends on your personal and country situation.
US-based missionary spouses have the ability since funding is set up differently, to look for employment outside of TWR, though TWR is often made priority.
For missionaries sent from Europe, it depends on your situation and the country you will serve in.
We are happy to discuss your situation personally!
