Role Summary
If you have a background with and understanding of the culture of African Portuguese-speaking (Lusophone) countries and would love to see them impacted more deeply with the Gospel, then join us as Assistant Area Ministry Director. Your business skills in executing new strategies, supervising ongoing activities and coordinating program production will help to revive ministry in Lusophone countries like Mozambique and Angola. Experience the delight of working with our national partners to ensure that they can be a viable and self-sustaining ministry, and see the joy of audience engagement firsthand as you help to bring the Good News to them! 

Please note: This position is a supported/sponsored missionary role (not a direct hire opportunity), so you would develop a team of partners who provide financially for your full salary and benefits as a part of this role. We do provide training, resources, and coaching to help missionaries reach these financial support goals!

Assistant Area Ministry Director – Lusophone Countries Role Summary: Johannesburg, South Africa

Provide assistance to the Area Ministry Director in the execution of new strategies to revive ministry in the Lusophone countries of Mozambique and Angola.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish a strong National Partner within two years, ensuring that the National Partner is a viable and self-sustainable ministry
  • Maintain and build capacity in the area of relevant audio media platforms (broadcast outlets, internet, new media, etc.)
  • Build networks for audience engagement, feedback, and relations
  • Create and strengthen partnerships and church networks
  • Coordinate with local leadership to strengthen fund development in the region

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of either: missions, theology, and/or business
  • Knowledge, skill and mental acumen equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a good understanding of missions, leadership, financial accounting, business and cross-cultural communication
  • Strong functionality in English and knowledge of one of the local languages is optimal
  • Some travel, especially initially, required
