Bonaire Infrastructure Upgrades

TWR has been broadcasting from the island of Bonaire for almost 60 years. This small Caribbean island is situated about 50 miles off the northern coast of Venezuela, which makes it an ideal place to reach Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, northern Brazil and the surrounding countries. Beginning in 1964, the TWR staff on Bonaire produced programs, developed ministry to Latin America, maintained an extensive antenna field of towers, and kept our transmitters running. Today, listeners often tell us that from a young age, they grew up under the solid biblical teaching of TWR's programs from Bonaire.

Now more than ever, this great voice in the Caribbean needs to be on the air for those who are like sheep without a shepherd, as in Cuba where pastors have left their congregations because of the lack of medicine and food. Those left behind, such as in Venezuela because family members have fled the country to look for income, need to hear words of hope and be edified. The TWR teams in Colombia and Venezuela rely on broadcasts from Bonaire to reach the unreached in their countries. Programs are going out in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Macushi for Brazil. The signal covers the entire nation of Cuba, and Cubans are hungry for the Word of God. From teens to the elderly, people in every age category testify that they have recently received Christ as a result of hearing the programs of TWR.

The age of our homes, offices and radio station buildings, plus the wind and salt air, have rendered our infrastructure in much need of repairs and upgrades. TWR will be addressing these needs in three phases. The first phase will involve better security and maintenance at the transmitter site, where we have the transmitter building, antenna towers, and antenna "huts" that house equipment for each tower. With your support of these practical needs, our Bonaire radio infrastructure will be prepared for several more decades of gospel broadcasting.

To be sure that our Bonaire facilities are equipped to meet current and future ministry needs, here are some important upgrades of the facilities that are needed:

  • Fence around transmitter site $20,270
  • New roof over dummy load and generator at transmitter site $14,870
  • Upgrades two bathrooms in the studio building $6,080
  • Paint studio building and transmitter building $8,000
  • Install gutters around transmitter building $4,160
  • Modifications to cool room and roof at transmitter site $4,730
  • New sliding garage doors $6,080

Thanks so much for your support of these projects!
