Guam Infrastructure Upgrades

Since 1977, TWR has been spreading a blanket of the gospel by radio across the vast continent of Asia. From shortwave station KTWR on the island of Guam, TWR beams messages of hope in Jesus Christ, resulting in lasting fruit in the hearts of Asians from many different cultures and people groups.

The KTWR infrastructure is now approaching 50 years old, and a variety of maintenance issues have arisen due to the age of the station. TWR’s Guam Infrastructure Upgrades will bless our staff with the ability to restore our broadcast station and keep bringing what, for some, might be the only source of God’s Word available. Your gifts to this important maintenance will ensure that KTWR broadcasts continue for years to come. Following are a few priority projects.

Above Ground Diesel Storage Tank
Our diesel fuel storage tank allows us to store fuel for the generators that power the transmitters during power outages. Our current tank is old and due to its age, our insurance premiums have increased significantly. We would like to replace it with a double-walled tank that will have the same capacity but remove the threat of rupture due to age. It will also reduce our insurance premiums significantly. The project cost is $8,000.

Driveway Road Repairs
TWR’s transmitter site sits off the main road with access via a long, gravel driveway that encircles the office and transmitter building. Guam has tropical rains for half of the year, and the road is washed out. We move heavy equipment in and out from time to time, and the road needs to be able to handle large flatbed trucks loaded with the equipment. The remaining need for driveway repairs is $28,000.

Antenna Road Repairs

In addition to the driveway to the transmitter site, TWR maintains roads within the site to access the towers and antennas across the vast antenna field. Traditionally, TWR has moved pickup trucks and light equipment throughout these roads, but now that we have a boom lift weighing 45,000 pounds for antenna repairs, our sitewide roads need some upgrades to handle the heavier equipment. Our estimated need is $30,000.

Wall Project

TWR hopes to embark on a new transmitter project in the near future, which will require moving a wall in our transmitter building. In anticipation of that project, we would like to go ahead and make this building modification. Our estimated need is $74,500.

If God is leading you to participate in the TWR Guam Infrastructure Upgrades to provide some much-needed improvements to our radio station, KTWR, we welcome your partnership.
