Proverbs, Ecclesiastes & Song of Songs

This Mission 66 Study Guide for Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs explores the Bible’s wisdom books. In Proverbs, you’ll see that the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge, hear Wisdom herself call from the city gate, and learn practical lessons on honest and gentle speech, wise counsel, moderation, humility and trusting God over our own understanding. The guide ends with the sayings of Agur and Lemuel and the portrait of a virtuous woman. In Ecclesiastes, the Teacher wrestles with whether anything in life has lasting meaning, reflecting on seasons, wealth, vows, and the brevity of life, and pointing to God as the source of meaning. Song of Songs celebrates romantic love as a gift from God and a picture of his enduring love for his people.

Each of the 21 lessons pairs with the Mission 66 audio commentary hosted by John Mathews and Esther Sisulu, and includes a summary, questions, a reflection question, and a personal application. Themes of wisdom, integrity, self-control, humility, and trust in God run throughout, and an answer key at the back is included.
