The Gospels
Walk from Jesus’ birth to his resurrection, and discover what it means to know and follow him.
This Mission 66 Study Guide for the Gospels takes you through the life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus as told by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. You’ll follow Jesus from his genealogy and birth through his temptation in the wilderness, the Sermon on the Mount, his parables, and his miracles. Along the way you’ll see how he confronted religious hypocrisy, taught about the cost of discipleship, and reached out to those on the margins. You’ll also read his teaching on the end times, his betrayal and crucifixion, and his resurrection. Each Gospel adds its own emphasis: Matthew on the fulfillment of prophecy and the kingdom, Mark on Jesus’ power and the road to the cross, Luke on his humanity and compassion, and John on Jesus as the pre-existent Word, with the “I am” teachings and the Holy Spirit.
Each of the 78 lessons pairs with the Mission 66 audio commentary hosted by John Mathews and Esther Sisulu, and includes a summary, questions, and reflection and application prompts. Themes of faith, humility, obedience, forgiveness, and the call to follow Jesus run throughout, and an answer key at the back is included.
