Interested in missions but don't know where to start? Consider donkey tracting!

Join us on a weeklong mission trip to Japan and reach the world's second-largest unreached people group for Christ!

P.S. Proficiency in Japanese is not required :)

What is Donkey Tracting?

TWR's Donkey Tracting (DT) short-term mission trips exist to mobilise believers of all ages to take the gospel to Japan, home to the world’s second-largest unreached people group.

Over the course of a week, DT participants come alongside Japanese churches and pastors on the journey of making Jesus known across the land, going from door to door to distribute gospel tracts and information about local churches and TWR’s FM programmes.

You don’t need to speak Japanese or have any special skills to participate. All we ask is that you love the Lord, want others to know him and don’t mind walking (a lot).

When is it happening?

  • Hiroshima: 19-26 May 2025
  • Tohoku: 15-22 September 2025
  • Nagoya: 1-8 December 2025

What you'll get to do:

  • Prepare and assemble tracts for distribution.
  • Walk and distribute tracts across neighbourhoods.
  • Visit several Japanese churches to learn about their ministries and specific needs.
  • Fellowship with local believers and pastors.
  • Worship and pray alongside them.
  • Participate in a cultural exchange activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called "Donkey Tracting?"

The name “Donkey Tracting” is inspired by Jesus, who was prophesied to come “humble and mounted on a donkey” to bring salvation for all people (Zechariah 9:9). Similarly, believers on DT trips carry the good news of Jesus to the second-largest unreached people group in the world.

How much does it cost to participate in a DT trip?
Depending on the trip, the total cost per participant ranges from S$1,100 to S$1,400, excluding airfare. This fee covers:
  • Accommodation
  • Transportation between lodging and churches
  • Daily meal allowance
  • Gifts for churches and pastors
Participants are responsible for purchasing their own flight tickets separately.
How will I understand anything that’s going on if I don’t know Japanese?

When needed, our staff members will provide Japanese to English translation and vice versa.

Why do you distribute tracts? Aren’t there more effective ways of sharing the gospel?

For believers who do not speak the language, tract distribution transcends language barriers and provides a viable means to sow seeds of the gospel among the Japanese.

Are kids welcome?
Yes! Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over 21 years old. Please keep in mind that participants should be prepared to travel considerable distances on foot during the trip.
