Data Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mid-Level Data Engineer who specializes in Synapse and Power Platform, with expertise in Python, T-SQL, and data flow. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud-based SQL and experience with MS SQL as a service.

This role may also be fulfilled on a volunteer basis. 

Our IT/IS team is looking for a missionary or volunteer to serve as a Data Engineer to work on exciting projects and make a significant impact on our data infrastructure.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design efficient data solutions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality and reliability.
• Implement data integration processes using Synapse, DataVerse and Power Platform tools.
• Write efficient Python and T-SQL scripts for data manipulation and transformation.
• Optimize data processing and data flow for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with database administrators to manage cloud-based SQL and MS SQL as a service environments.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Document data engineering processes and solutions for knowledge sharing and future reference.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in data engineering technologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
• 2-4 years of experience in data engineering, specifically with Synapse and Power Platform.
• Strong proficiency in Python and T-SQL programming languages.
• Experience with data flow and data manipulation using ETL tools.
• Proficiency in cloud-based SQL platforms, such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS.
• Familiarity with MS SQL as a service, including Azure SQL Database or SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
• Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with big data technologies, such as Hadoop or Spark.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Power BI.
• Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
• Certifications in relevant technologies, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
