TWR Africa is looking for a warm, resourceful, and self-motivated Maintenance Manager who takes quiet pride in caring well for people and spaces, and who would love to do it as an act of worship in a vibrant, multicultural ministry environment.

As Maintenance Manager, you'll take ownership of the Kempton Park building, on-site lodge and apartments, parking yard and surrounding grounds. This includes day-to-day maintenance and repairs, contractor scheduling, and budget oversight — everything needed to keep a busy, people-centred facility running smoothly and feeling cared for.

Focus Area:
  • Administration — Reviewing facility and property maintenance requirements, planning changes, and coordinating with the supervisor.
  • Facility Maintenance — Day-to-day upkeep of the office and lodge, handling minor repairs, overseeing outside contractors, and responding to unexpected damage.
  • Facility Planning — Scheduling regular maintenance and legal compliance requirements, and planning ahead for future facility needs.
  • Facility Finances — Working within budget, communicating overages to the supervisor, and helping prepare the facility management budget.
  • Miscellaneous — Grounds and parking upkeep, cleaning schedules, security oversight, and participating in staff meetings and devotions.

Essential Duties:

Maintenance:

  • Maintain office spaces and lodge apartments in good condition Perform minor repairs in a timely manner
  • Schedule and plan larger repairs with supervisor approval
  • Oversee outside contractors and repair/construction companies
  • Respond to unexpected damage by calling appropriate services

Scheduling & Records:

  • Keep records of building revisions and service checkups
  • Schedule regular service companies and engineers for monthly/yearly checks
  • Ensure regularly scheduled legal requirements are planned and completed

Facility & Grounds:

  • Keep the parking yard clean and in good shape
  • Develop and follow an office cleaning schedule
  • Oversee building and grounds security Refill backup diesel storage containers as needed

Planning & Finance:

  • Plan for future facility needs based on staff and usage changes
  • Work within the available maintenance budget
  • Communicate any budget overages to supervisor Help plan and prepare facility management budgets

Administration & Reporting:

  • Review facility and maintenance requirements with supervisor
  • Compile and submit a monthly report by the 10th of the following month

Ministry Participation:

  • Attend staff meetings
  • Participate in devotions on scheduled workdays
  • Maintain active involvement in a local church


Competencies:

  • People Skills & Teamwork — Works well with others and has a team spirit, while also being able to work independently.
  • Hands-On Repair Ability — Capable of handling small repairs personally.
  • Project Coordination — Able to foresee, plan, and coordinate larger maintenance and building projects.
  • Basic Tech Proficiency — Comfortable with email and MS Office.
  • Cross-Cultural Sensitivity — Able to work effectively in an international setting with staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid South African Driver's License — Required for tasks such as collecting diesel using an organizational vehicle.


Experience:

  • Must have a valid South African driver's license and have the ability to do small repairs, coordinate projects, and use email and MS Office.


Working Conditions:

  • Part-time — Three days per week
  • On-site — The role is based at the Kempton Park building in Johannesburg. Remote work does not apply
  • Physical work — The role involves hands-on maintenance, minor repairs, grounds upkeep, and tasks like collecting diesel, suggesting some physical activity is expected
