Imagine living in a country where the Bible and Christian gatherings are prohibited or difficult to access, or if you are illiterate. Yet outside of God’s Word you cannot live … How, then, are you spiritually nourished? For this reason, TWR is optimizing and expanding its broadcast reach from our transmitter site in Eswatini (east of South Africa). This requires not only material resources, but also very specific knowledge and experience, as well as sufficient financial support.

Called
Several years ago, the Lord began to make it increasingly clear that he was calling us to missionary work. This raised the question: “What does God want us to do?” Through our church’s missionary office in the Netherlands, we came into contact with TWR and then took part in a vision trip to TWR’s transmitting site in Eswatini.

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you …  The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.” Isaiah 60:1–3

During this vision trip, God spoke to Annelien and me through the above passage. In particular, the words “arise” touched our hearts deeply. We’ve since been accepted by TWR and are now preparing for deployment to Eswatini, which includes building a team of prayer and financial ministry partners.

Activities
I will serve on the technical team that ensures that the name of Jesus reaches people through high-powered radio—work that aligns well with my knowledge and experience. Annelien will support my work at TWR while dedicating herself to Christ’s Hope. This ministry targets vulnerable and orphaned children in extreme poverty, providing essential support—such as meals and preventative care—to ensure they receive the foundation necessary for education and safe development within Eswatini.

We both eagerly await the day when we can do our parts in “reaching the world for Christ by mass media so that lasting fruit is produced!”
