The deaths of five missionaries in 1956 sent shock waves around the world. The tragedy also brought two missionary families to Suriname, where they connected with the indigenous Trio people and shared the gospel with them.
TWR is continuing the work of reaching the tribe by partnering with the Trio, building jungle radio stations to minister to their people directly. Here are four ways you can be praying:

1. Pray for the project.

Pray for full funding and completion of the Suriname Jungle Radio Project, so that Trio elders will be able to disciple young people who have moved farther into the jungle and have a tool to reach neighboring tribes.

2. Pray for evangelism efforts.

As Trio and Wayana missionaries reach out to nearby tribes in Suriname and Brazil, pray that the Holy Spirit would soften hearts to the truth of the gospel.

3. Pray that they would hunger for the Word.

Pray that the Trio, who only recently have had all of the Bible available in their own language, will grow in knowledge and treasure more and more God’s Word.

4. Pray for favor.

Pray for favor with government officials, especially in Brazil, toward Trio and Wayana missionaries who reach out to other tribes
