Call for Prayer Follows Attacks in Colombia
[Estimated reading time: 3 minutes]

For years, many believed scenes like these belonged to the past.
Explosions. Highways brought to a halt. Families trapped in fear. Entire communities wondering if the country was slipping back into chapters they thought had been left behind.
But in just 72 hours, the people of Colombia were shaken anew.
Twenty-seven terrorist attacks during the past weekend hit primarily in southwestern Colombia — a region historically marked by the presence of illegal armed groups and territorial conflict. The toll: 20 people killed, 38 injured, including five juveniles. At least four departments – the equivalent of a state or province – were affected by this new wave of violence.
One of the most alarming attacks took place along the Pan-American Highway, a vital transportation corridor in southern Colombia, where reports indicated more than 300 kilograms (about 660 pounds) of explosives were used.
“We are going back many years,” said Estela Ferrucho, executive director of RTM Colombia, referring to times when such attacks were much more common. RTM – or Radio Transmundial – is the equivalent of TWR in Latin America.
Ferrucho’s words are more than a description of the crisis. They echo a growing national concern.
As illegal armed groups strengthen their technological, economic and strategic capabilities, the sense of vulnerability is rising. Many warn that civilians are paying the price of territorial struggles that are not their own.
And amid the uncertainty, fear is mixed with deep outrage.
Because these are not just statistics.
These are communities living in anxiety.
Children growing up amid conflict.
Families wondering what comes next.
An Urgent Call to Pray for Colombia
In the face of this reality, RTM Colombia is inviting believers and ministry friends to pray for their nation.
Please pray for Colombia:
- For peace in the regions affected by violence.
- For protection over communities caught in the middle of conflict.
- For comfort for families grieving the loss of loved ones.
- For children and young people impacted by this escalation.
- For wisdom and strength for those working for security and justice.
- For an end to the spread of violence and renewed stability in the country.
- For hope for those living in fear today.
As Ferrucho shared, this escalation may not end soon -- and prayer matters.
When Hope Does Not Stop
But this story does not end in pain.
While many speak of violence, RTM Colombia continues sowing hope.
Through its programs, interviews, digital content, streaming and missionary outreach, the message of the gospel is reaching cities, towns and remote places. It reminds Colombians that even in darkness, God is still at work.
“We are bringing a message of hope every day to every heart, to every corner of Colombia,” Ferrucho said.
It is a conviction that stands against despair:
That fear does not have the final word.
That violence does not define the future of a nation.
And that even in uncertain times, hope can still break through.
Colombia needs prayer.
Colombia needs hope.
And today, more than ever, the two go hand in hand.
