Interns With Impact 2024: Wade, IT Intern

By Lauren Mock
Global, Information Technology, Internship (2-3 mo.), N America, USA

Wade (right) and fellow IT intern, Luka (left), work back-to-back on a communication exercise during intern orientation.
When Wade (right) isn't working on a communications exercise with fellow IT intern Luka (left), he's dedicating his summer to growing his skills and giving them to the gospel.

Wade joins us this summer after graduating from Montreat College in the spring with a degree in cybersecurity degree. He’s serving in TWR’s Cary, North Carolina, office with the Information Tech/Information Services team. As a local, Wade is commuting to the office this summer from nearby Garner.

Several connecting strings led Wade to TWR. He was familiar with the organization through his church, The Shepherd's Church, his mother, current and former TWR employees, and donors. It was only a matter of time before Wade blazed his own TWR trail!

“I enjoy the constant learning,” Wade shared. “The people here at TWR care about you and want to help you mature into a professional, both spiritually and professionally.”

Q: What is the most challenging thing for you this summer?

The constant learning can take a toll. I would say one of the hardest things is keeping productive and organized through the slew of information and tasks being thrown my way each day.

Q: What are you most excited to do during your internship, whether work or personal?

I am excited to keep learning more about my career and also how to manage faith in the workplace.

Q: At this point, what is your favorite thing about TWR?

The lovely people who care about you and wish for you to succeed.

Q: Is this your first ministry/missions experience? If not, where have you served?

I have always tried to serve the church throughout my life, by volunteering in camps, church tech, or in food pantries. I would consider this experience fully devoting my time to one ministry task, though.

Q: What was the biggest sacrifice you made to be here this summer?

My sleep.

Q: What is your favorite hobby that you have or hope to develop this summer?

I have enjoyed trying different coffees and teas this summer, as well as trying disc golf for the first time.

Fun Fact: Wade considers himself a master of finding the best deals on anything and everything – in stores, online and through coupons.
