IT Professionals Make Great Missionaries

The Opportunity 

We at TWR are on a mission to reach the world for Christ by mass media so that lasting fruit is produced. With a potential reach of 4 billion people worldwide, TWR uses the best tools available to share lasting hope – whether by radio, social media, podcasts or videos. 

Your skills could take you all over the world. With IT and data management being two sides of the same coin, there are many places to serve. 

We need the next generation of IT professionals to continue broadcasting hope to the world. Opportunities abound for those looking for a second career, too. The world of technology and digital media is ever changing – and at a fast pace. You can serve God by helping TWR stay on the cutting edge.

“We’re trying to make sure that the lights stay on from a technology perspective.” 

Those are the words of Ben Lykins, our global director of IT/IS. Without the metaphorical lights on, our operations would grind to a halt. IT professionals like you keep our technology running smoothly and handle all the data our ministry brings in. 

The global IT team works together to answer questions and solve problems all over the world. Whether you are a globetrotter or a homebody, we have a place for you. Consider serving at our offices in Cary, North Carolina, Africa or Europe – or work remotely and choose your own location! 

You could also work in our Asian office in Singapore. From there, you would provide occasional in-person support to our remote offices in Nepal, Cambodia and the Philippines. You would also assess IT/IS needs for the region and support in-house technical functions for data management. 

And speaking of data management, if that’s your niche, we have opportunities for you. 

Our ministry brings in data related to audience engagement, finances and our transmitters, among other things. A data analyst processes and condenses that data into a report that enables others in TWR to do their jobs. 

“Someone who likes a challenge will definitely thrive here,” says Chris Overman, TWR’s director of data management. 

In addition, the data management team needs data privacy specialists and Python programmers. So if you have expertise in data privacy law or software development, let’s talk! 

Those who work with TWR are missionaries, regardless of their area of expertise. And as with most missionary roles, serving with TWR allows you to build a team to support you in both prayer and finances while you help to further the Great Commission. 

“We really have a passion to reach people with the gospel, and serving in technology allows us to use our technical skills in order to do that,” Lykins says. Overman echoes that sentiment, saying, “It’s a way of serving the Lord that a lot of people don’t think about.”
