Meet Susie Pek, New Director of TWR Women of Hope

As it celebrates 25 years of media and prayer ministry, TWR Women of Hope has welcomed Brazilian author and broadcaster Susie Pek to the role of global director.

Pek officially assumed her leadership duties this week, succeeding Peggy Banks, who stepped away from the TWR (or Trans World Radio) position at the end of 2022 to pursue the Lord’s calling at another ministry. Pek becomes the third director of TWR Women of Hope since it was founded a quarter-century ago by Marli Spieker, who also is from Brazil.

“I am thrilled to receive the marvelous task of caring for and leading TWR Women of Hope,” Pek said. “I am so thankful to Peggy Banks and to all of our amazing global staff and volunteers who have loved our women so well.

“Psalm 34:5 says, ‘Those who look to the Lord are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.’ As I embark on this new journey, I look to the Lord for wisdom and guidance to help women around the world and across generations to look to Jesus, be radiant and experience his grace and hope.”

TWR President Lauren Libby said Pek’s experience, abilities and zeal make her the perfect choice to lead TWR Women of Hope into a new era. She will oversee 450 staff members and volunteers in more than 125 countries who minister through the flagship Women of Hope radio program and through the 120,000 intercessors participating in 12,000 local prayer groups.

“She’s been a faithful member of the TWR Women of Hope team since 2008 and currently serves as the regional coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean,” Libby said. “Her primary passions are prayer and bringing hope and healing to women – priorities I consider to be essential in the leader of this ministry based firmly on a global prayer movement.”

Pek and her husband, Douglas, live in São Paulo, which is the most populous city in the Americas and home to TWR’s national partner, RTM Brazil.* Douglas Pek is the minister for administration at Calvary International Church and a presenter of the radio broadcast Champions Arise in Portuguese.

In addition to serving as a regional coordinator, Susie Pek is a producer and presenter of Women of Hope in Portuguese and has become a recognized Christian voice in the huge emerging nation she calls home. She is also a columnist, blogger and author of the devotional book Hope Encounters.
