Sharing Jesus on an Olympic Scale
[Estimated reading time: 2 minutes]
What do the Olympic Games, AI and proclaiming Christ through media have in common?
All are coming together this summer through a partnership between TWR – also known as Trans World Radio – and PHARE FM, a network of 20 Christian stations across France.
The world will be watching the Olympics, which take place July 26-Aug. 11 – and much of the world will be able to listen to a Christian perspective of the Games via the PHARE/TWR partnership.
That’s because of their Games Talk initiative, through which PHARE FM will broadcast live in Paris from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time each day leading up to the Games, from July 22-26. Hosts from PHARE will interview almost 50 Christian athletes and sports professionals. In addition, PHARE’s “Living Bus” will tour the region daily. The bus, which has a mobile studio, will be used to highlight the activities of local organizations and churches involved in cultural, social and athletic events.
Then, throughout the 17 days of the Olympics, the content will be available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Russian on the social media channels of TWR and twr360.org. The translation will be provided through the use of AI, or artificial intelligence, and supervised and reviewed by native speakers. We plan to post one interview each day, July 26-Aug. 11.
“What an incredible opportunity to share the gospel with the nations from both near and far!” said Cécile Chan-Janiaud, TWR director for Digital Media Ministry in Europe. “We believe the sports activities will provide unparalleled circumstances for evangelism across many cultures and that the message of the Bible still has the potential to transform lives in France and beyond.”
