Veronica Jonas left her hometown of Chester, New York, to go to school almost 500 miles away at Liberty University. With two years of school completed and two more to go, the 20-year-old planned on using her summer to prepare for her future career. After prayerful consideration, she decided on a TWR internship in Cary, North Carolina.

Picking right up from studying computer science with a double focus in software engineering and web and mobile programming, Veronica now serves with the TWR360 team to create and maintain websites involving language translation. She’s enjoying applying a lot of her educational knowledge to her daily tasks.

What led you to joining TWR?

I heard about TWR through The Traveling Team, a group of itinerant evangelists, at my college's career fair. What led me to join TWR is their mission for using technology to reach the unreached, which I thought would be a great use of my career field and interest.

I am looking forward to building more of a career field network while also deepening my relationship with Christ with the new people I have met while working at TWR. So far, it has been quite eye-opening to see just how many people don’t know the Word of God and about Jesus’ love.

It’s been cool to see different aspects of my career field and integrate what I’ve learned at school into career projects. We are using technology to reach the unreached with the gospel, but there are even more and better ways we can be reaching them in their heart languages.

What is one of your biggest challenges this summer?

Finding out why God led me to TWR and what he wants me to learn in my internship concerning my career field. It’s also been challenging to figure out where to pivot when something doesn’t go according to plan in troubleshooting.

How did you get interested in ministry?

By seeing people already committing their lives to this way of living. Seeing how the Lord governs every aspect of their lives is an encouragement and a light to others.

How is this internship preparing you for your future?

It is giving me a Christian community to learn more about Christ and how I can use my career field skills to lead others to learn about Christ.

What have you experienced outside of the office?

I’ve enjoyed attending a Spanish-speaking church. It’s been fascinating to see the Lord transforming others and myself through a different language. I’m curious to see what the Lord does with my hobby of learning Spanish.

We asked Bryson Sappington, another intern in the Cary office, the important question: If Veronica were a Disney character, who would she be?

If Veronica were a Disney character, she would be Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-it Ralph. Her and Veronica's personalities and spunk fit together very well.

Fun fact: Veronica once had to swerve around not one, but two wheelbarrows in the middle of the highway!
