Unmasking the Gospel in 2021: Savannah, Visual Media Intern

By Rosie McMahan
A-V Production, Americas, Global, N America
TWR has been a part of Savannah’s life since before she could walk, and she is overjoyed to finally have the opportunity to apply her God-given talents in communications to TWR’s ministry of hope. Growing up with TWR as a household name, it was an easy choice for Savannah in her search for a summer internship. She is ready to reach new creative heights and follow God’s call with humble obedience, whatever that may entail.

Savannah was born in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, but has called Holden Beach home since Spring 2013. She recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies. This summer, Savannah is serving in the Cary office as the Visual Media Intern in the Global Marketing and Communications Video department. She is truly passionate about every aspect of Communication Studies and is prepared to leap into her time at TWR with energy and enthusiasm.

Q: How did you hear about TWR?

My grandmother is Janet Bisset, who has been serving at TWR for 31 years now. My first time visiting the office was when I was only three months old.

Q: What caused you to get involved in the internship program with TWR?

My grandmother told me about the internship opportunity offered here, and I immediately started the application process because I knew it was something I wanted to do.

Q: Have you always been interested in missions?

The realization for my heart in missions came during an altar call in August of 2016. Later that year in December, I went on my first mission trip to Guatemala, and my heart for missions has only increased since then.

Q: What projects are you going to be involved in?

I will be helping out with various video projects this summer as a planner and director of photography.

Q: Are there any challenges you have or anticipate experiencing? How will you face them?

Problem-solving is a major part of media production, as there are many things that can go wrong during the process. I am looking forward to these challenges whether technically or creatively to improve my problem-solving skills and the content I help create.

Q: What are you most looking forward to during your internship?

I am looking forward to the growth I am going to experience as well as the connection and relationship building. Above all, I am excited about the opportunity to serve in ministry and help spread the gospel all around the world.

Q: What is your biggest goal for this summer?

My biggest goal this summer is to push myself to new heights creatively and spiritually. I can’t wait to see how God moves and uses this summer to do a new thing in me. I just want to be obedient every step of the way no matter what that looks like.

Q: What are your post-college plans?

This internship is the first step in my post-college plans. I am just taking it one step at a time as the Lord leads me and guides me into my future.

Q: Fun fact: what’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

This may be a hot topic as a “weird food,” but I unknowingly ate escargot once. I did not mind it until I found out what it was (snail), and I have not been able to get near it since.
