Hidden Treasures is an audio drama that harnesses the power of storytelling to bring healing and hope to women who have experienced sexual exploitation and trafficking.
When women live under the crushing weight of exploitation, words of comfort can feel hollow. Trauma closes ears and hearts. Yet stories – the kind that mirror their own experiences – have a way of slipping past defenses and planting seeds of hope.
That’s why Hidden Treasures was created as an audio drama. It isn’t simply teaching. It’s storytelling designed to unlock hearts.
The Power of Storytelling
Stories have always been central to how people understand truth. Jesus himself used parables to reveal God’s kingdom in ways people could grasp. In the same way, Hidden Treasures uses fictional characters and situations to reflect the very real struggles of trafficked women.
When a woman hears a character cry out, “No one cares for me,” and then discovers that God cares, the truth takes root more deeply than if she were simply presented with a doctrinal statement. Story allows her to journey with the character, experiencing transformation alongside her.
Behind the Scenes
The team behind Hidden Treasures prays over every script, voice and song. Writers carefully craft episodes that are both culturally sensitive and biblically grounded. Voice actors bring authenticity and emotion, helping listeners connect with the characters’ struggles.
It’s not entertainment. It’s ministry. Every detail is intentional, designed to reflect both the darkness of exploitation and the greater light of Christ’s redemption.
We asked Vice President of Global Content and Integrated Ministries Susie Pek why she thinks this format is effective in reaching exploited women.
“Using audio drama to reach trafficked women is deeply effective because it combines accessibility, emotional depth, and spiritual resonance,” Pek shares. “Media allows people to choose what, when, and where to listen – an essential feature for women in vulnerable or hidden situations. But audio drama goes beyond convenience. Voice carries emotion, personality and presence. It breathes life into characters and stories, often touching listeners in profound ways.
“For trafficked women, who may be isolated or fearful, hearing a voice that conveys empathy and hope can be transformative. The background music and sound effects make the story feel real, while songs offer a poetic and healing way to share God’s love. These elements together create a safe space for listeners to engage with truth, even when they cannot speak openly.”
Drama as a Lifeline
For many trafficked women, hearing Hidden Treasures may be the first time they encounter the gospel in a way that feels personal. Instead of being told, “God loves you,” they hear a character discover it for herself – and it feels real.
This is why drama tells the truth. It speaks to the heart when the mind is too weary to listen.
And as each episode is shared, hope moves quietly through headphones, small radios and mobile phones, slipping into the hidden places where women need it most.
Hidden Treasures is an audio drama that harnesses the power of storytelling to bring healing and hope to women who have experienced sexual exploitation and trafficking. Inspired by real-life events, each episode shares the transformative message of God’s love and purpose, offering a path toward inner freedom.
Season 1 introduces listeners to a loving God through the eyes of women who are still searching – those who have not yet encountered Jesus. With gentleness and compassion, the stories invite them to consider a new beginning.
Season 2 shifts perspective, featuring women who have found hope in Christ. They reflect on their past, briefly share their testimonies and point to the new life they now embrace. Original songs enrich the narrative, adding emotional depth and spiritual resonance.
Audio drama doesn’t just inform – it connects. It speaks to the soul. For women who have endured trauma, this format offers a safe and intimate way to engage with truth. It creates space for healing, restoration and renewed identity in Christ.
