David and Linda Bijleveld

David and Linda Bijleveld are preparing to leave for Eswatini. This small kingdom is located in the south of the African continent, wedged between South Africa and Mozambique. From here, TWR stretches deep into this beloved continent with three strong shortwave transmitters, reaching the African people with the promises of hope and salvation found in Christ Jesus.

David and Linda live in the Netherlands and have three adult children. As a small child, David was interested in technology and became interested in radio communications around his high school years. Radio is an amazing phenomenon, with no limitations of borders, politics, religion being able to reach people in any situation. After his engineering studies, he worked at various engineering companies and was involved in the maintenance of technical facility installations.

The Christian faith had no place in David and Linda's lives for a long time, until Linda came to faith in 2016. Three years later, after a special encounter in Spain, David came to faith. After his baptism in 2019, David developed a longing to use his technical skills for God's kingdom. After a long search of prayer, reflection and speaking to people about this longing, he contacted TWR Netherlands in 2021.

Several conversations followed and in the summer of 2023 the opportunity arose to go on a short-term mission trip to Africa with Linda. During this trip they explored and experienced that Africa is the place God has in mind for them to serve for a longer period of time.

David, along with the TWR team, will be responsible for the maintenance of the transmitters, masts, buildings and support equipment of the transmitter site in Eswatini and possibly some other TWR sites in the continent of Africa. Linda will be in Eswatini to see how she can partially support David's work with TWR from her role using her gifts and talents. She will also look to local opportunities within and outside TWR.
