RuthAnn Steward

Greetings from Nebraska! My name is RuthAnn Steward, and I will be serving as an engineer for TWR. I am excited to play a small part in furthering the gospel via airwaves, and to help reach the least-reached peoples across the globe!

I was born in Texas and am one of 10 children. My family has since scattered across the U.S., living in many different states, and my husband, Nick, was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I studied electrical engineering at the University of Portland, Oregon, as well as doing ROTC, and then served in the Air Force for five years. After the Air Force, I worked for Boeing as a systems engineer until we got pregnant with our firstborn son. We have since been blessed with three beautiful children—Kenneth (10), Samuel (7), and Gabrielle (4)who keep us on our toes and have brought us immense joy! My husband is currently an active-duty Marine—soon reaching his 21st year as an officer and will be retiring March 1, 2026! With his job we have moved many times, including living three years in Okinawa, Japan. During that time and while having children, I finished a master’s degree in U.S. history and pursued some hobbiesincluding running ultra-marathons, traveling, and volunteering with various organizations.

The military brought us to Omaha, Nebraska in May of 2022, and it was here that I first learned about the ministry of TWR. A TWR rep found my resume and asked if I would consider submitting my application, as engineers were needed. I had been praying for a few years for the right time to begin working again and was very excited to proceed with the application process if it meant using those skills for Jesus! Due to my husband’s work schedule, I decided to begin serving with TWR just as a volunteer.

I have been humbled and blessed to volunteer with TWR for the last two years. As a volunteer, I currently support TWR’s broadcasts to Africa by listening to many different broadcasts across the African continent, submitting SINPO (Signal, Interference, Noise, Propagation, Overall) reports, and learning more about TWR’s GRMS (Global Remote Monitoring System). This has, by far, been the most rewarding job I’ve had! There is still much to learn about the specifics of radio engineering with TWR, but I am thrilled to begin serving in person in West Africa at a key transmitting site. Nick is excited to make the transition to Africa and is preparing to homeschool our children and support the local TWR staff with hands-on logistical, construction and community work.

We crave your prayers and appreciate your encouragement and financial partnership as we get ready to answer the Lord’s call to serve overseas! We know this will not be easy, but we are so excited to help share the gospel and impact Kingdom growth!
