Four Ways to Pray for a Minority People Group in Pakistan
[Estimated reading time: 2 minutes]
"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth."
— 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 —
Sitara*, who is translating the Bible for an unreached people group in Pakistan, is confident God will bring fruit.
"I'm also confident that the fruit will grow at God's pace," she said. "We just need to continue and do."
And one of the main tasks we can undertake is prayer.
"Continuous prayer is important for these things so that there will be impact," Sitara said. "We can't make the impact. We really depend on God to do something here."
Sitara lives this out as she ministers to a people group that will not be named to protect her work.
She's seen God's hand as she translates the Bible and adapts Bible videos into the language of the people group. You can read more about that here.
According to Joshua Project, the people group is 100% Muslim. But Sitara knows of about 10 people who are secret believers.
Here are ways you can pray for Sitara and the people group. Please pray for:
1. Salvation
Pray for God to move among the people as they participate in Bible translation or watch videos online.
2. Community of faith
Pray for people to come to faith in groups, whether it is family or friend groups. People who come to faith in communities will be better equipped to withstand persecution.
3. Bible translation
Pray for the translation of the Bible to continue and that those who are not yet believers would come to know Jesus as they engage with the Scripture.
4. Our sister
Pray for Sitara as she leads the Bible translation project and other upcoming media projects to get more Bible stories into the language of this people group.
