The Middle East is right at the center of the 10/40 window, a rectangular area of North Africa, the Middle East and Asia, where 68.9% of the population are considered unreached, according to Joshua Project.

A
t the crossroads of Africa, Asia and Europe is a land that is culturally rich, historically significant, and shaped by geographical and religious contrasts. A place where Jewish, Arab, Persian, Turkish, Kurdish and other people groups live side by side. From its towering snow-capped mountains to fertile river valleys, the region is a meeting place of faith, culture and geography.

This land is known as the Middle East: a vibrant mosaic, home to ancient civilizations.

We know that nearly all the biblical events took place in the Middle East, including the entire life and ministry of Jesus. Long before Jesus walked its roads, Israel stood at the center of God’s unfolding plan for humanity.

But with all its captivating variety and history, the Middle East also has a dark side. Centuries of imperial influence, from empires to colonizers, left unresolved rivalries.

In the past year alone, thousands of lives have been lost throughout the Middle East because of all the complex warsProblems such as malnutrition and deep emotional and economic scars persist across the region.

A man in Afghanistan looks towards the camera. We know that God will ultimately restore peace, but what can we do while we look forward to that day?

By God’s grace, TWR has been uniquely positioned to put Hope Within Reach. Through our teams, ministry contacts and partners who serve in the Middle East, we work to bring the hope of Jesus to every lost soul.

Is there room for hope in the Middle East?

Abdul, a Yemeni listener shared:

"Life here is unbearable. I lost everything – my job, my hope, even my will to pray. But then I found your program. You spoke about Jesus – the One who heals broken hearts. For the first time in years, I felt that someone cared."

Like Abdul, many people in the Middle East are searching for answers to life’s toughest questions and finding true hope as they discover who they are in Jesus.

Why is media the best tool to share the gospel in this region?

Media, whether through traditional or digital radio, podcasts or social platforms, is a powerful channel for communicating this hope. Media breaks through barriers of geography, culture and access. It allows people in restricted areas damaged by war to encounter the gospel privately and safely. It meets people where they are.

For example, TWR’s Hope for Yemen program reaches a country devastated by years of conflict. One listener, Mohammed, spent 11 days in daily discussions with the follow-up team, asking questions about Jesus Christ and the Bible. Eventually, he chose to follow Christ and is now studying the Bible with great enthusiasm.

In regions like Israel, where Russian-speaking communities face cultural and spiritual challenges, innovative programs such as the Nehemiah Project and TWR Women of Hope provide tailored content. Nehemiah delivers a 24/7 digital stream to nonreligious Russian-speaking Jewish audiences, while Women of Hope addresses domestic violence, social isolation and discrimination among womenThese efforts leverage platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, ensuring that the gospel reaches people in the ways they already consume information.

For Syrian youth grappling with unemployment, trauma and disenfranchisement, the Youth in Mind program combines faith-based wisdom with practical life skills. This initiative addresses spiritual and psychological challenges, helping young people find purpose and hope in Christ.

What impact has TWR had on the Middle East?

  • Lives Transformed:  By using radio, podcasts and social media, TWR’s ministry provides spiritual support and discipleship to those with limited access to Christian communities. Many listeners describe the programs as lifelines that help them grow in faith and navigate challenges. TWR’s creative strategies ensure the gospel reaches even the most remote and restricted areas, transforming lives with God’s truth.
  • Expanding Reach: TWR’s ability to connect with people through media is remarkable. From young professionals in Türkiye to teens in Egypt and war-torn families in nations like Syria, Israel and Yemen, the ministry is meeting people where they are. Programs like Ala’s Diary and Women of Hope resonate deeply because they address the real-life struggles people face while gently pointing them to the hope found in Christ.
  • Ongoing Discipleship: TWR equips new believers with resources to grow in their faith. Programs like Talmatha provide guidance to Christians in isolated or hostile environments, while youth-focused shows help integrate biblical principles into daily life. Listeners report life-changing breakthroughs, with many stepping into deeper faith and even beginning to share the gospel with others.
  • Breaking Barriers: In regions where evangelism is restricted, TWR uses creative approaches to introduce biblical truth. Programs for youth and women weave Christian values into conversations about personal development, emotional health and relationships. This has inspired many to explore Christianity and even to embrace faith in Christ despite opposition.
  • Meeting Practical Needs: TWR also addressed practical challenges like career planning and self-worth. Programs like Youth in Mind and A Different World help listeners navigate life’s challenges through biblical teachings. Similarly, TWR’s Farsi ministry offers a collection of programs calledPand, meaning “wise words, which cover topics such as child-rearing, marriage and personal development. By integrating live interactive sessions, podcasts and cultural insights, these programs offer practical tools and spiritual encouragement.

It’s easy to become discouraged when we read the news coming out of the Middle East as wars continue between nations and peoplesTWR’s response remains the same: to reach the world for Christ through media
