[Estimated reading time: 2 minutes]
Quick Summary: TWR ministry leaders and partners across the Horn of Africa are asking believers worldwide to pray for boldness, protection, and access to Scripture as the church grows amid persecution..jpg)
This month, TWR has been calling attention to persecution in the Horn of Africa (including Ethiopia, Somalia and other neighboring nations) under the “Hope in the Shadows” theme. It’s part of our ongoing Hope Within Reach series.
The challenges in the region seem enormous, but Jesus followers are neither hopeless nor helpless. Our help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:2)
In that light, we asked the experts we spoke with for these reports on how the worldwide TWR could pray for the work in the Horn of Africa.
12 Prayer Requests from the Horn of Africa:
- Effective outreach to bring more people to Jesus and boldness among brothers and sisters in the region.
- More dreams and visions through which Muslims meet Jesus.
- Media and online ministries to reach more people.
- More radios and MP3 players to be provided to potential listeners.
- Greater access to Bibles.
- Protection for Christians and their families in the region.
- Guidance as more of the work takes place in conflict zones.
- Wisdom and resources to disciple those who come to faith.
- The training and development of pastors and Christian leaders to shepherd the growing church.
- Unity for believers even when scattered.
- More laborers, because the hearts of the people in the region are open; key leaders also are needed.
- Resources to produce more relevant programs in different languages.
