TWR Africa launches Pure Talk app

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 6 August 2026 – TWR Africa Pure Talk, the radio voice of TWR Africa, now also is available in an app.
“It’s a new way of connecting with the station, and it’s a more exciting and personalized way of doing it,”
said Thulani Mdletshe, a regional content director for TWR and a TWR Africa presenter since 2012. The app launched on August 1, with a social media rollout to follow on August 8.
"TWR Pure Talk represents an exciting new chapter for TWR Africa,” said Susie Pek, TWR’s vice president of Global Content and Integrated Ministries. “It's a platform built for honest conversations — about faith, relationships, and the real issues people face every day — and it opens the door for deeper connection with our listeners across sub-
Saharan Africa. I truly believe this is more than a launch; it's an invitation for a continent to encounter hope and truth in a fresh, relevant way. My heart is full of joy and gratitude for what God has ahead for this ministry."
The Pure Talk name is itself relatively new, having be en introduced in the summer of
2025 for what long had been known as TWR Africa Radio. It was a change in branding but not in message, said Unathi Sithole, who with Mdletshe is one of the hosts of the station’s popular daily Worship ConneXion.
“The kinds of jingles and promos that we’ve been producing are a lot fresher, a lot newer, but the listeners can be assured that when they tune into TWR Pure Talk, they’re still getting the solid biblical teaching that they expect from TWR,” she said.
What the app offers is the opportunity to connect with a younger audience who might be more attuned to their phones than their car radios, said Marinus Geyser, the overnight host on Pure Talk and news voice of Worship ConneXion.
“Now with bringing in the app, we’re going to get a lot more young people who are able to just download it, listen to it with one click,” Geyser said. “And so I think we’re bringing in a whole new demographic with the app.”
But that’s not to say it’s just for the young.
“I can tell you my grandmother’s downloaded the app,” Sithole said.
You can find the TWR Pure Talk app for both Android and iOS at twrpuretalk.com/app, or directly on Google Play and the App Store.
