"Keep the Signal Strong"

By TWR Staff
Africa, Barbados, Bonaire, Brazil, Mozambique, S&E Africa

A missionary from Mozambique, who had been an avid TWR listener his whole life, came to share with us at our staff meeting.  He said:

"It's good to be here in person to thank you as a Trans World Radio team, for your ministry in my life and my family's life through the years that we have ministered on the mission field and at home.

“I was born in Barbados and when I was about 15 or 18, my mom brought home a small radio and I began to fool around with it, and I came across TWR from Bonaire. I thought it was neat because I could have church all week long by listening to your programmes!

“Then, after that I went to the US where I met my wife. We began to listen to TWR in our ministry - we went to Brazil for 20 years with New Tribes Mission in the Amazon. In the afternoons I would get TWR in Portuguese with a very, very clear signal. Then after being in Brazil, we came to Mozambique for 12 years.

“I wondered, will I find TWR or some kind of radio to give me spiritual food? And I did find Trans World Radio again! I was so glad to hear it again, in Portuguese, and very clear. So, throughout our years we have been blessed by and ministered of TWR.

“When I came, I got the letter from our dear sister, and I saw "TWR". So I thought, TWR? What does that mean? Could that be the same organisation? Then, when I came to the hotel, I went to find out where you were located and I asked a security guard, ‘Where is Trans World Radio?’ He said, "Do you see the towers over there?" and I thought, ‘Oh, this is the Trans World Radio I know!’

“So, thank you guys. I also hear TWR in Shona and Ndau. It's a ministry you have blessed us with. You don't see your fruit - you don't see radio waves, you don't see anything going out there, but we have received them, and we thank God for your ministry, and I ask God to bless you in a special way and to continue to do this ministry.

“There are many wonderful stories I have for TWR because God used TWR to lay the groundwork and do the seed planting for our move from Brazil to Mozambique. So, you've played a very interesting part in our lives. Even now when we travel in Mozambique, I have a short-wave radio in the car, and I always listen during the morning. From about 6:30 to about 10:30 I can get you very clearly. So again, I want to thank you for your ministry in my life!"

Our dear listener ends his sharing with a verse, pointing out that "without God's Word we become very dry":

“1 Corinthians 15:57-58: ‘But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain.’"

After reading this verse he left us with a hearty, "Keep the signal strong!"
