Five Ways You Can Pray for the Japanese People
[Estimated reading time: 2 minutes]

The Japanese people need your prayers. Of the 119 million Japanese people worldwide, only 0.46% are evangelical Christians. But TWR is serving the world's second-largest unreached people group, using media to share the gospel in this "missionary's graveyard." Here are five specific ways you can pray for them:
1. Pray for unity among the churches.
Most churches have very small congregations, and pastors are often overburdened and overworked without enough resources to support their ministry. Knowing that they have a network of believers united in the same mission is vital.
2. Pray that God will provide and equip a new generation of church leaders.
The majority of current church leaders are aging along with their congregations. Japan needs young believers to rise to the call and lead Japanese Christians in their walk with the Lord.
3. Pray for wisdom and creativity to effectively minister to the Japanese according to their needs.
One listener shared, “I live in a remote area where it’s hard to listen to the radio.” Multiple modes of content sharing are necessary to reach wider audiences, like the younger generation.
4. Pray for continued funding to support the existing programs and the development of new ones.
Today, as many as five TWR broadcasts are being aired on 29 different stations in Japan, with a potential listening audience of 17.5 million. TWR wants to expand these numbers.
5. Pray for Japanese pastors to be strengthened in their ministry work.
Many pastors carry out the work of their ministry alone, without sufficient resources to support them. “Sometimes it can get lonely, like very lonely,” said Atsuhiro Ozaki, pastor of a local church in the Kansai region. “We’re just so encouraged by you guys [involved in Donkey Tracting] because not only Japanese people but also people from abroad are praying for us and helping us.”
