Blessed with musical talent and an aptitude for engineering, Minki Park chose to join the TWR Broadcast Operations team as a summer intern on the island of Guam. He is a student at Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in electrical engineering.
Looking for an internship, he found TWR on LinkedIn and after researching, he happily discovered it is mission-centric. Eager to use his skills within a Christian organization, Minki expressed his favorite attribute of the ministry:
“I like the vision of TWR, which is speaking hope to the world. It is not easy to find a company that has a vision about missions. So, I’m glad to have had an opportunity to serve for TWR.”
Q. What was your role with TWR this summer, and where did you serve?
I served on Guam, and I helped develop a system to monitor transmitter activity based on the schedule, read and tune of the frequency (of the transmitter). This system will replace the current system.
Q. What did you enjoy most about your internship?
I enjoyed the environment on the island, and I loved seeing the ocean.
Q. What was the most challenging thing for you this summer?
I needed to learn to deal with the new software development, and it took a lot of time to simulate and test to develop the system.
Q. What were you most excited to do during your internship, either work or personal?
I think the most exciting part during the internship was boating with the local church people. We rode a boat and swam in the ocean and saw the beautiful sunset.
Q. Was this your first ministry/missions experience? If not, where have you served?
This was not my first ministry or mission experience. I had a short mission experience in Mexico to help people there. Also, I served as a praise team member for the English ministry at the Korean church of Atlanta in Georgia since 2020.
Q. What was the biggest sacrifice you made to be here this summer?
I would say the biggest sacrifice was giving up time to go back to my home country. Every summer I try to go back to Korea to spend time with my family.
Q. Please share a favorite new food or activity you tried this summer?
I liked the Chamorro local food in Guam. There was barbecue and chicken, and the chicken with local sauce was so good. I also loved being in the water and floating. Although I cannot swim, I like to feel waves in the ocean.
Q. What was your favorite hobby that you have now or developed this summer?
This summer I developed my musical skills by writing a praise and worship song. I’ll work to produce this music.
FUN FACT: Minki plays multiple instruments, including piano, violin and guitar.
